Why Is It So Hard To Lose Weight?
Why is it so hard to lose weight? This question has been asked by many before me. There is usually a long silence as they try to figure out the answer. I can tell you though that it IS a big question. Weight loss is one of the most difficult things to do in life. I can only think of one reason why, and that is we are not built to be thin.
What tends to happen is we pick up bad habits and behaviors, and we become overweight. Now you have a long-standing habit, and that is to eat something with carbohydrates and fats every few hours. This kind of short-lived gratification will keep us going back for more. In all honesty, what is the point of eating like this if you are trying to lose weight?
All that type of eating usually leads to bingeing. And when you are on a binge, it is very easy to slip up and eat something you shouldn't. You've already reached your short-term goal of losing weight, now you're looking at a long-term goal of maintaining that weight. Is there room for error? Of course there is.
The other reason as to why is it so hard to lose weight is that most people have a very short-term and all-or-nothing mindset when it comes to dieting. They believe you can only lose weight in one day or in a week. That's just not true. A one-day or a week long diet is just as effective in losing weight as an extreme diet plan. In fact, the extreme diets are the one's that really set people back because they force you to eat certain foods that are unhealthy for you and only last for a few days.
The all-or-nothing mindset is the number one reason why most diet plans are unsuccessful. You have to learn how to eliminate the "all-or-nothing" attitude and adopt a" starve-and-bless" attitude. If you have been trying to lose weight and keep trying, then it means you have a problem. The longer you go on with this attitude, the more your body will crave the foods you love. When your body has learned that it can have whatever it wants when you are not around, you will be forced to get your diet under control because your body won't let you eat when you want it.
The short-cut to quick weight loss is tempting. People think it will be easier to get into shape when they use the shortcuts. However, using shortcuts will not help you lose pounds in a healthy way. The short-cut mentality leads to "short-sightedness", and people end up getting hurt because they try to use shortcuts and are too focused on results, rather than on the health of their bodies.
You do not have to continue to be overweight. If you have been dieting on some sort of plan for a while, then you know it is not working. The problem is the diet plans are so easy to follow that most people give up before they lose weight. If you do not have a healthy way of eating, then you will not be able to change your current lifestyle. Changing your entire lifestyle might not be necessary in order for you to lose weight.
All-or-nothing mindset is not good when trying to diet. Losing weight takes a lot more than exercise and healthy food choices. It also takes a change in your thinking. In order to see long-lasting weight loss, you need to understand the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle. You can have a healthy mind and body, just make sure you get your diet together first.
